Petrobras hires two DOF Subsea pipelay vessels

DOF Subsea has secured two contracts with Petrobras for its pipelay support vessels (PLSVs) Skandi Vitória and Skandi Niteroi.

Skandi Vitória has been awarded a three years firm plus option contract via joint venture partner TechnipFMC. Skandi Niteroi has been awarded the same contract via DOF’s Brazilian subsidiary, Norskan Offshore.

Both vessels are Brazilian-built and flagged and owned by DOFCON Navegação, a joint venture between DOF Subsea (50%) and TechnipFMC (50%).

The company did not disclose further details but did say that operations will start in February 2022 at latest.

Since the beginning of the year, the Norwegian subsea and marine services provider landed several contracts with Petrobras.

In May, DOF Subsea won multiple contracts to support the ocean bottom node (OBN) seismic surveys that Shearwater GeoServices will conduct on three Petrobras’ fields offshore Brazil.

Under the contract, the company will provide vessel and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services for the survey campaigns on the Jubarte, Tupi and Iracema fields.

Two months ago, DOF Subsea secured two contracts, through its Brazilian subsidiary, for its Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels with Petrobras and Equinor, respectively.

Anchor handler Skandi Paraty was awarded a one-year contract extension with Petrobras until July 2022.
